How do you travel with a formal dress on an airline?

I'm goin to this ball out of the state military and I flew out on Thursday and I have the dress to the floor I carry what I need help figuring out how to get there. I thought I would use a garment bag, but my friends say it is not a good way. I am terrified about getting wrinkled. I was told to bring in the garment bag as my go, but I thought that could only be carried out so great. Help I'm so lost in this.

You can bring your dress on the plane as hand luggage. You should put the plastic clothing, such as cleaners, and then put into the bag of clothes, which will help with the wrinkling.I have been on flights where there was an entire wedding party is going to an island for a wedding and the bride and some the others brought their clothes on board.
